Colwood’s EMR Taskforce has a number of bylaws, building code recommendations, and transmitter siting schemes that it expects to introduce to Council in the coming months. If we are to succeed in protecting the residents of Colwood and the West Shore from EMR emissions, it is vital that we have the full support of the community. With your cooperation we have every expectation that we will prevail and that Colwood will be the first community in Canada in which EMR has been successfully limited to the BioInitiative recommended levels.
But that won’t keep you safe. 4G cell phone transmitters that are currently being installed can broadcast for 30 miles, follow the contours of the land and penetrate thick concrete walls. Remember, Health Canada sets the standard for cell transmitters at 10,000 times higher than the BioInitiative Report recommends (see handout #1). And even more powerful 5G transmitters are in development. So even if Colwood is protecting its residents, emissions from our neighbouring municipalities (e.g. Langford, Highlands, View Royal, Victoria, and Metchosin) will continue to bombard us. We won’t be safe until they are safe. So it’s up to all of us to encourage our neighbours to contact their City Councils and request that they follow our example. The Councils may resist, of course, but only because they’re uninformed.
And then there’s WiFi. In schools. It can be removed and the safer, more efficient, faster, and more secure wired internet used instead (the technology that was in place before WiFi). But School Boards and Principals have to be informed. We recommend that you contact them. We’re sure they’ll appreciate the attention.
